Amplifying the Voices of All-Age Carers – Carers Week 2022
News | 10 - 11 - 2025
As part of Carers Week 2022, ICE collaborated with Cheshire East Carers Hub to create a powerful graphic scribe video that amplifies the voices of carers across all ages and experiences.
Building on our research into the experiences of young carers, the project used live visual storytelling to capture the real stories, emotions and challenges faced by carers in Cheshire East throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
Through graphic scribing, we brought these stories to life – illustrating the strength, compassion and resilience that carers demonstrate every day. The video captures a range of lived experiences, highlighting carers of differing ages and circumstances, and giving each person the space to share their journey in their own words.
Many people provide unpaid care to a friend or relative without identifying as a carer themselves. By using visual facilitation and creative storytelling, the project helps people recognise their role and see the vital support available to them through local services and networks.
At ICE, we believe graphic recording is more than illustration – it’s a way to connect people, build empathy and ensure voices are seen as well as heard. Projects like this demonstrate how live visual storytelling can make public engagement more inclusive, memorable and human.
