WHY

Nottingham Breast Institute (NBI) provides outpatient services for those in treatment or requiring diagnosis in the Nottingham area.

35,000 patients visit NBI every year, receiving care from an expert, committed team of multi-disciplinary professionals.

ICE were proud to partner with Nottingham Breast Institute in a range of cultural development interventions, following a period of change and reorganisation.

The brief was clear:

  • Help us review, reflect and deepen relationships
  • Support us to enhance how we communicate
  • Help us be an even more effective team

HOW

ICE consulted with a range of stakeholders to design and deliver a blended solution:

  • Multi-Disciplinary Group sessions
  • Narrative Building
  • Co-created Communication Charter

We used Graphic Scribing to visualise the current culture, delving into how it feels when they are performing ‘at their best’. The insight harnessed energy and formed anchor points for discussion based on their real lived experiences.

The group sessions were lively spaces with open discussion, connecting clinical and non-clinical disciplines together – resulting in better relationships, mutual appreciation and deeper alignment to goals.

WHAT

The teams at NBI embraced the opportunity to contribute to the co-creation of their own future.
The sessions have grown new relationships and deepened existing ones.

It has resulted in a team that feels fresh energy and commitment, more positive and who are enjoying a new shared commitment to their values and goals.

Patients and their care remains front and centre focus. Now teams feel re-energised in their commitment to one another alongside their patients.

A Communication Charter has created a central point of reference and a reminder of the fact that being a brilliant team is core to serving the patient.
